Story

At 2-years-old, Aldon Blom was diagnosed with a rare and inoperable form of brain cancer known as DIPG. Before diagnosis, he was an outgoing, energetic and playful child. Aldon was incredibly kind, and he loved everyone he met. He enjoyed educational puzzles, watching sesame street, playing with his cat, Nuts, and drinking chocolate milk.

The first symptoms Aldon’s parents noticed were his eye closing more and a crooked smile. Before long the symptoms progressed into unsteady walking, slurred speech and choking on liquids. After diagnosis, Aldon wasn’t interested in activities he once loved. It wasn’t until he completed his treatment protocol of radiation that he bounced back to semi-normal despite his cancer. Aldon was too young to understand what was wrong with him, but through it all he remained the most loving little boy imaginable. After an 8-month battle, Aldon passed peacefully surrounded by his family on April 19, 2020 at the age of 3.

Although it is too late for Aldon, the Blom family believes there can be hope for other children through the funding of cancer research.
