Alexis was a sweet and stubborn 4 year old who enjoyed art projects, stuffed animals, watching DVD's, reading books, dressing up, and just being a 4 year old girl. She was articulate, intuitive, and always on the go. Diagnosed in April 2008 at the age of two with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma, or DIPG, Alexis continued to defy the odds for 33 months and bravely battled her cancer while inspiring thousands of people to help not only her, but other children who face the same journey. Alexis lost her brave battle in January 2011, and she will be forever loved and missed. Alexis' friends and family organized the National Race Against the Odds, which is held in Arlington, Virginia in November of each year, to honor Alexis and her brave battle.
