Story

At 5-years-old, Bryce Caldwell was a sweet, free-spirited child with a wonderful sense of humor and an immense love for his family, especially his two brothers, Tyler and Carson. Bryce was the middle child and he loved being the best little and big brother. He was very athletic and enjoyed spending time outside playing football and baseball, and learning to ride his bike with his brothers. He had an enormous passion for the Denver Broncos and adored watching them play.

In 2016, Bryce began suffering from severe separation anxiety, awful nightmares and daily headaches. He would often have to take breaks when playing because his headaches were so painful. After months of headaches and no real answers from his pediatrician, Bryce developed vision and balance issues, prompting his doctor to order an MRI. The results of the MRI showed that Bryce had DIPG, a fast-growing and inoperable form of brain cancer. After his diagnosis, his parents were told to go home and make memories as long as they could. Bryce immediately began a 30-day treatment protocol of radiation. A few months after he completed radiation, Bryce was back his normal self. He was blessed with five symptom-free months of pure family fun, spending days at the beach, meeting his beloved Denver Broncos, eating ice cream at the local Milky Moo’s and swimming in his backyard pool.

Bryce battled courageously for 12 months before he passed away at the age of 6 on December 14, 2017. While Bryce’s life was cut too short by this debilitating disease, his story has touched so many and his legacy will continue to change lives through the work his family does raising money to fund pediatric brain cancer research. His family wants more than just memories for current/future DIPG warriors and their families. They want the cure!
