Liliana was diagnosed with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG).
DIPG is a type of tumor that starts in the brain stem, the part of the brain just above the back of the neck and connected to the spine. The brain stem controls breathing, heart rate and the nerves and muscles that help us see, hear, walk, talk and eat.
She endured photon radiation five days a week for six weeks while taking her phase 1 clinical trial medication.
After a month-long stint in the hospital with an infection, Liliana weaned off life support and medication to stablilize.
She is currently stable, healthy, and back to her normal self. She is continuing to take her clinical trial medication while being monitored monthly by her medical team.
